The public health crisis created by the new Coronavirus is not something any of us could have reasonably expected to happen. Effective Monday, March 16th we are temporarily suspending all classes for one week and plan to re-open as soon as authorized to do so. We will continue to monitor the situation and try to find solutions.

We are developing online content so our members can continue to stay healthy and improve by learning jiu-jitsu and working out at home. An email will be sent to you around noon today with the new site and a coupon for free lessons! We will add more videos and further develop the site daily! Please follow our FB and youtube pages and check your email for times of our live lessons, where you may interact and ask questions live!

At this time we will deeply clean the school and develop a curriculum for social distancing as an option.
TO BE CLEAR: There have been No reported cases of covid-19 at our academies.
As a reminder, all of our facility is thoroughly cleaned every day and high touch areas are cleaned throughout frequently. Mats are mopped many times daily.

It has been a dizzying week of change for all of us. We recognize that these actions are necessary to help prevent the spread of this virus. We also know that the programs that we run are important for our members and participants, and they contribute to making the community a better place. In an effort to help keep things as normal as possible, we will be paying all of our staff for this week. We are hopeful that you will be patient during this unprecedented time. We ask that you please keep your membership active so we can keep our community together and vibrant during these significant challenges. We are hopeful that these significant precautions will help stem the spread of the virus and that we can begin to return to our normal routines soon.

We will keep everyone informed about opening again. If you have any questions or concerns please contact us by replying to this email. You may also text or call us at 424-250-0111. If we are away from the phone Pedro, Thomaz or Brennen will get back to you ASAP.

We have made an online school at www.graciebjjonline.com please email us for your coupon for free access.

*Both our BULLY-SAFE and MARTIAL ARTS summer camps were built to help children and teens deal with bullying, intimidation, peer pressure and other situations common to their age groups. The camp is also great to better their Jiu-Jitsu skills.  All activities will include one of these

TOPICS:

  1. Responsibility and accountability when using Jiu-Jitsu.
  2. Recognizing a threat.
  3. Avoiding a potential threat by anticipating what could happen.
  4. Dealing with the threat when attacked verbally or physically.
  5. Distinguishing between when to use avoidance techniques, verbal techniques and when to use Jiu-Jitsu.

Kids will be spending a majority of the time learning and practicing Jiu-Jitsu which will also be a great way to sharpen their Jiu-Jitsu skills. This will make them more confident and more able to defend them-selves.

Classes taught during our Kids Bully Safe and Martial Arts Summer Camps offer instruction in the following topics:

  • Jiu-Jitsu – Techniques
  • Chess Lessons – Everyday
  • Judo/Wrestling – Standing takedown techniques
  • Self-Defense – Verbal and physical
  • Defensive Striking Techniques – Martial Arts Campers only
  • Peer Pressure – Think about your actions before acting
  • Bullying Prevention – Preview a potential threat and how to deal with it
  • Yoga – stretching, breathing, focusing and remaining calm

If you have a child age between the ages of 5 and 15 year old, then I urge you to get him or her involved in our Kids Bully-Safe and Martial Arts Summer Camps. Your child will gain confidence, discipline, respect for others and learn life skills that will help shape him or her into a stronger adult.

March 2020 – Character Counts Health Chart

Character Counts is optional and is open to Current and NON-Current students. It focuses on strengthening our student’s characters to help them become good people with strong values and healthy habits.

We will choose one topic and give the kids a chart to complete. The prize will vary every month, from a jiu-jitsu game day to Caique jiu-jitsu gear and everything in between.

For March we have chosen “Healthy Habits.”
We will distribute (or please print) a chart to track their chores. The parent will choose a few different chores then write an X on the appropriate row once the chore is completed. Kids must have at least 40 Xs to turn in their charts. This is supposed to be challenging for them! Charts are due by March 31st.

Prizes- All kids who get at least 40 Xs will choose a CJJ prize (Belt Key Chain in any belt color, Large Decal, Jiu-Jitsu Bag, Be featured in the CJJ Instagram). The kid with the most Xs in each group will choose between a Private Lesson or Rash guard!

Please let us know if you have any questions. This program is open to all kids 5 to 15 years old. Regardless of whether they are currently enrolled or not. It is NOT mandatory. Thank you for letting us share this wonderful part of your child’s journey with them. As always, we are honored.

*If you would like to print out your own chart please print the one on top of the page.
